Meet the Artist

Carena is an artist and professional photographer based in Hawaiʻi. Her passion for creating cyanotypes began while studying at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, where she explored darkroom techniques, alternative photographic methods, and chemical processes that continue to inform her work today.

Deeply inspired by her island surroundings and ocean-centered lifestyle, Carena’s signature imagery celebrates beloved island life through one of the earliest photographic processes—the cyanotype. Her work blends tradition and place, honoring both the history of photography and the natural rhythms of Hawaiʻi.

When she’s not in the studio, Carena can be found freediving, spearfishing, photographing the coastline, or dreaming up her next creative venture. Constantly evolving, she finds great joy in creating meaningful work and sharing her art with collectors and communities around the world.
