CYANOTYPE WORKSHOP

Workshop Overview
11:00 AM – Welcome, introductions, and a brief history of cyanotype.
Learn the cyanotype printing process through a guided demonstration before creating your own botanical and object prints using fresh plants, pressed flowers, lace, glass, and other natural materials.
After exposing your prints in the Hawaiian sun, you'll rinse and reveal your one-of-a-kind blueprints before taking a lunch break while your artwork dries.
We'll finish by displaying everyone's work, discussing techniques, answering questions, and celebrating your creations with a group photo.
Is this workshop beginner-friendly?
Absolutely! No prior experience is necessary. I'll guide you through each step of the process, from arranging your materials to creating and developing your final prints.
What's included?
Your workshop fee includes all cyanotype materials and instruction, including:
- Pre-coated cyanotype paper
- A selection of fresh and pressed botanicals
- Natural objects and design materials to experiment with
- Use of all workshop supplies and tools
- Hands-on guidance throughout the workshop
You'll leave with several original cyanotype prints and the knowledge to continue creating on your own.
What should I bring?
- A packed lunch or plan to eat nearby during the lunch break
- Water to stay hydrated
- Sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses
- Optional: Special leaves, flowers, lace, feathers, shells, or small meaningful objects you'd like to incorporate into your artwork.
What happens if it rains?
Cyanotypes require UV light to develop. If weather conditions prevent us from safely completing the workshop, participants will be notified as soon as possible and offered the option to transfer their registration to a future workshop date.
Is lunch provided?
Lunch is not provided. A one-hour lunch break is built into the workshop, giving you time to enjoy a packed lunch or visit a nearby café or restaurant before returning for the final portion of class.
Can children attend?
This workshop is recommended for participants ages 12 and older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult.
What is your cancellation policy?
Due to limited class sizes, workshop registrations are non-refundable. If you're unable to attend, you're welcome to transfer your registration to another person or, with advance notice, apply your registration to a future workshop if space is available.
